New Publication – Harvard Art Law Review
We are proud to announce the publication of Prof. Carla Rossi’s new peer-reviewed article in the Harvard Art Law Review (Vol. 1, Issue 1, 2025):
"Biblioclasm for Profit: The Legal Implications of Dismembering Western Medieval Illuminated Manuscripts"
This in-depth legal and ethical analysis exposes the ongoing destruction of medieval books for the benefit of the manuscript trade. The article is based on thirty years of independent research, and follows Prof. Rossi’s official report to the Italian Carabinieri TPC concerning the trafficking of dismembered codices.
Rossi’s work addresses a pressing issue at the intersection of cultural heritage law, philology, and the antiquarian market — offering legal scholars and cultural institutions a documented account of how manuscript dismemberment operates today.
