Swiss Federal Court Decision on The Book of Hours of Louis de Roucy (2026)

By decision of the Swiss Federal Administrative Court (January 2026), the proceedings relating to the volume The Book of Hours of Louis de Roucy have been definitively closed.

The Court annulled the revocation, ordered by the Swiss National Science Foundation, of the research grant associated with this book and established that there were no grounds to qualify the work as plagiarised nor to impose any sanctions.

The decision brings to an end a public narrative that had been constructed on the basis of materials and statements circulated online (notably on the blog of Peter Kidd, the main accuser on Twitter and other online platforms), which found no legal confirmation in the Court’s judgment. The Swiss National Science Foundation should have conducted its own independent investigations and should not have relied on accusations published on social media.
